Several big fires in multi-storey housing raised the alarm about the risks posed to tenants in timber frame constructed homes. Fire service chiefs now fear many buildings do not meet standards and warn this could lead to loss of life in future. The Chief Fire Officers Association has called for a review of regulations warning fires tend to spread faster and burn more intensely.
